Several weekends ago, St Xavier’s alumni physicians volunteered their time and talents to a Medical Camp held on the Gurap campus. The camp included physical exams and health education for both students and their parents (any extended family who visited). Thanks to your generous scholarship donations, our female counselor has been offering our young women a program focused on debunking period myths called Menstrupedia. One of our dedicated sponsors Sonia Jackson Myles, founder and CEO of the Sister Accord Foundation, introduced us to the program. The girls are becoming comfortable opening up with the counselor and thanks to this new relationship and new information, their mentor was able to request a female gynecologist for the camp. The gynecologist was able to intervene with non-urgent developing medical issues and provide nutritional supplements. She affectionately referred to the girls as her”little daughters” and thanked Fr Maria Joseph for the opportunity to help them. She has provided new dietary suggestions to the school that our beloved Fr Vinay has already implemented, and she will now make regular visits as needed.
