Dear Friends,
Today the world celebrates International Day of the Girl! St Xavier’s Gurap is almost equally split in female and male students. At the February inauguration of the high school, we heard from moms about their hopes for their daughters. Over and over we heard from women whose dreams of education were dashed by the poverty of their own families that needed another worker in the fields. And over and over, women shared their inspiring stories of working hard to make education the number one priority for their daughters, their children. Education improves lives for girls and boys and for the families they will grow together.
I will never forget the joy and pride on the faces of our female students as they showed us around their new dorm. Human dignity is priceless. I hope that you will use this global holiday to help create that kind of dignity for a girl who is waiting for a chance to thrive. Please consider supporting girls here in the U.S. and around the world, and please consider joining Tribe Rising India’s donors and strengthen our collective action by supporting our scholarship fund.
Help us create a brighter future with Santal girls taking an active role in building a better tomorrow for everyone.
Thank you, aima sarhau!
Annette
