We are so grateful to everyone who supported our 2024 fundraiser. And we want to say another thank you to each of our generous sponsors and donors.
This year, we raised over $170,000 (up 11%) to support the development of St Xavier’s Gurap campus. Since its inception, Tribe Rising India has been able to support Santal education with gifts totaling $1 million! Here are some highlights of how those funds were spent:
• built the high school
• built the girls’ dorm
• purchased several acres of land
• build a border wall and installed two security gates, now with guards
• purchased CCTV security system
• purchased a fire safety system
• hired subject specific teachers for middle and high school in math and science
• hired an English teacher
• hired a female and a male counselor
• supported upgraded water/toileting facilities and hygiene education
• supports 2 RNs on staff
• supports matrons and gentleman to help on each dormitory floor
• supports all boarding, food–3 meals and 2 snacks per day, uniforms and track suits, educational materials
• supports a computer lab and language lab
• hired extracurricular coaches
• hired tutors
• allows for field trips

The impact of your generosity runs deep. We are almost entirely volunteer run and our dollars go a long way in India. We are humbled by the trust you all place in us. With our Jesuit partners, we enjoy full transparency. All grants to West Bengal are disbursed against contractor estimates and operational invoices–every rupee is accounted for.
Sometimes I cannot believe how far we have come from the small, rural school we initially visited! We could not have done that without you.
There is still a lot of work to do, but we know that you are committed to helping us complete and establish a model program. Our Jesuit partners have currently convened a committee including an architect and several engineers to provide a complete master plan that will identify and give priority to the remaining construction needs, as well as operational and educational needs to expand St Xavier’s Gurap to its full capacity.
