The foundation of our buildings is strong, and now we see the fruits of that initial hard work of preparing a rice paddy to hold a building. The high school will be three stories tall with two wings–a mammoth structure! The bright white exterior of the girl’s dorm shines brightly on the horizon, beckoning a new day.
The foundation of our values is also strong, and now we see the fruits of that initial hard work of raising awareness of the injustice and poverty that weighs down the Santal people.
Because of YOU, our committed and generous donors, we have gained supporters in India as well. St Xavier’s Burdwan families are participating in a clothing drive for coats and warm sweaters for the Santal students in Gurap, and a service group called “Xaverian Ladies” is donating warm blankets to the poorest Santal villages, and a group of teachers is entirely supporting the 11 Gurap students who are orphans–these small acts would not have happened 5 or even 3 years ago!
Despite the real challenges our world is facing, despite the years of struggle the pandemic produced, real and good things are being done by real and good people–just like YOU.
